SpectraEMF is for entertainment only. The meter shows your phone's real magnetometer (the same sensor the compass uses) as a novelty 0-to-100 readout, so it genuinely reacts to magnetic fields, but its readings are not evidence of paranormal activity. Enjoy it in that spirit.
The meter reads your phone's magnetometer. Move the phone near electronics, speakers, magnets, or metal and the number will climb. Tap "Calibrate to here" to re-zero it to your room (this is free).
Check that the volume is up. You can turn the beep and the vibration on or off under About. The alert fires when the field crosses your alert level; on the free tier the level is a sensible default, and Pro lets you set it yourself.
